Frequently Asked Questions
What does this validator check?
We check ANSI/NIST-ITL format compliance, required ATF fields (TOT, ORI, name, etc.), fingerprint record count, and file structure. If NBIS tools are available, we also run chkan2k validation.
What if my file has errors?
If your file has issues, you can use our converter tools to fix them. Upload your file to our NIST converter or create a new EFT from your FD-258 card.
Is my file stored?
No. Validation is performed in memory and your file is deleted immediately after. We don't store or log your fingerprint data.
What's the difference between errors and warnings?
Errors indicate problems that will likely cause ATF rejection. Warnings are potential issues that may or may not cause problems - review them before submitting.
